As a food reviewer, I must say the offerings here truly shine during your visit. The kimchi, praised for its refreshing crunch, is a delightful introduction to the traditional banchan experience. If you're craving an Korean BBQ and the traditional banchan experience, look no further because Vagabond Korean Steakhouse is the spot. We normally drive down to Gainesville to visit another KBBQ spot and suffice to say, we'll be saving the mileage on our car and coming here instead. High quality meat, fresh banchan, and great service. Can't wait to return! The vibe of the place is also great so you can bring friends or make it date night. There is a 2 hour time limit, but I didn't feel rushed at all, nor did they seem to artificially slow down the 'refills' of meat. You do have to order 3 proteins on the first order, but after those three you can order a half portion or full portion for each additional round. As a huge fan of kimchi, I should note theirs is quite good, but very basic and it is more geotjeori than kimchi. Geotjeori and kimchi are essentially the same, but geotjeori is fresh kimchi before it's fully pickled and fermented. It is also not very spicy and it has no shrimp paste in it, so it's safe for those who don't like spicy food and/or have a shellfish allergy.

AYCE Korean bbq at Vagabond for my birthday! Visited for Saturday lunch for table of 3. Didn’t need a reservation and under 5 min wait to prep our table. I love the decor and vibe at Vagabond with K-pop music videos, but not too loud. Banchan: our favs were the kimchi, side salad, pickled onion/jalapenos, and the thinly sliced pickled radish. Meats: We start out with brisket since it cooks fast. Don’t overload the grill. We put 2 orders of brisket at once. It covered the air holes on outer grill, which will smother the flame. Cook smaller batches and have a side plate on standby to place meats when they’re done, so they don’t sit on the grill and get overcooked. There were many meat choices, but our stomachs were not big enough to try them all. We got the thick cut spicy pork belly and Hawaiian steaks which was sooo good! I liked the spicy kimchi soup. It comes in with tofu, sliced beef, and kimchi that satisfy my craving for hotpot! I also skip rice and instead devour the meats with romaine lettuce. Service is great. We’ve visited multiple times and it’s always a hit!

Tried this restaurant for the first time tonight. The whole family enjoyed the food...Appetizers, sides all fantastic. We tried about five different meats, and enjoyed all of them. Our server made a few recommendations for us that were right on target. Modern, upbeat urban decor and vibe! Service was great, even though we dined late at night. I highly recommend trying this place. You cook the meat at a grill on your table. It was a lot of fun and we will definitely be back soon!

First time visiting. 1-24-25. This place was the bomb! EVERY thing was delicious. Was a little hesitant about cooking our own food at the table but it was so easy. The sauce that’s at the table matched all the meat/seafood perfectly. I consider myself a foodie and since moving to Jacksonville we haven’t found a place to crave and now we have one. Server was attentive and explained things just fine.

This was our first time at Korean BBQ/Grill-it-yourself sort of place! John (I believe that was our server's name, I am SO SORRY if I got it wrong) was very friendly, super helpful, and very attentive. He helped teach us how everything worked, from ordering to using the grill and tools. Superb service. We had the Spicy Pork, Beef Brisket, and Spicy Chicken as our first three meats, and they were all very good! We also enjoyed our appetizers: the fried dumplings and popcorn chicken. The side of rice was wonderfully sticky and easy to pair with the meat. The water was also very crisp with no odd flavor to it. Sometimes water in the south is weird, so I felt I had to mention it! Finally, we had the chocolate cake with ice cream... delicious. Warm, soft, and tasty. Loved it! They give you chopsticks, but if you aren't quite confident in using them, they do have regular silverware in a box on the table for you to use. There is music playing, and it's loud but not painfully so. If you get overwhelmed easily, though, it might be a bit much. We were seated fairly quick, but there were only two of us, and we showed up at an odd time, not during lunch or dinner rush. Overall, great experience! I'd love to go back to try more of the meat selections eventually.
